Reflection

  • by

As a business owner there is always something on your to do list. Actually, perhaps that is an understatement. Perhaps what would be more accurate to say is that at any time of the night or day your brain is full of things you could, should, want and need to be doing. You probably have notes to yourself in notebooks, in your phone, on scraps of paper and all over your desk – reminders of what you still need to do, or should get around to do when you have time.

What with working IN your business as well as working ON your business there can be little time to stop. However, if you don’t take the time to stop and think and plan then that can lead to you being busy doing things that won’t actually help you in the long run.

It is important to not let the busy-ness of your business get in the way of you achieving success. There is a definite benefit to you and your business, in taking time to be still, to reflect on where you are currently and where you want to be. In that stillness clarity can come.

There are a number of questions you can ask yourself as you reflect, and some of them are:

  • What are the things that are working well in my business?
  • At this point in time, what activities am I enjoying the most?
  • In 12 months time, where do I want my business to be?
  • What could I do today that would help me connect with my vision for my business?
  • What is the most important activity or job that I need to focus on today?

However, it is also important to just allow yourself to be still and to allow ideas and thoughts to just come to you. So sit down, get a cup of tea and a blank piece of paper, and take 15 minutes to be still and quiet and see what comes.

Let me know how you get on.
